Why it stands out
The 2017 Toyota Highlander distinguishes itself in the crowded midsize SUV market with its combination of comfort, performance, and family-oriented features. This model year introduced a refreshed design that includes a new trim option—the sporty SE—which enhances the driving experience with a retuned suspension and additional styling elements. The standard Toyota Safety Sense suite adds crucial assistance technology, including adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning, solidifying its reputation for safety. While it may not lead in power or cargo space, the Highlander delivers a compelling overall package, particularly appreciated by families for its spacious interior and user-friendly technology. However, some users have noted performance issues compared to older Highlander models, though most still find the SUV reliable and comfortable.

Nicest car I’ve ever owned! Beautiful color, absolutely loaded with options. Comfortable, great power, handles well in snow. Easy access to third row with captains’ seats in second row. Easy to operate radio/clock/blue tooth. It’s similar to Honda Pilot, but maybe a bit smaller. I traded in a Honda CRX and found Highlander just as easy to drive and park. Excellent value.
