How much does the 2017 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have softened 3.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,667 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 Ford Mustang a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Ford Mustang earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, fun driving experience, and stylish design, and many like the range of engine choices that lets you shop for anything from a more approachable daily driver to a more serious performance setup. The Mustang’s rear-wheel-drive layout and broad configuration range also make it appealing if you want a recognizable sports car with real personality. With 31.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance to find a competitive price.

Is the 2017 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that many people enjoy living with over time, especially when they value performance and driving enjoyment. That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and condition, since long-term ownership risk can rise if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Mustang?

At 54% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden damage or deferred maintenance. Focus especially on overall condition, signs of prior repairs, and whether the car has been maintained consistently.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Mustang?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,667 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,047, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $20,890 sits slightly below last year's $21,709.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you’re thinking about future value, the key is to buy a well-kept example at a strong price so you have less depreciation room left to absorb. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $18,578, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $20,890 average.
• It adds heritage-inspired styling updates and a more modern cabin.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $22,462, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $20,890 average.
• It brings more refinement and meaningful mechanical and tech improvements.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, availability, and owner satisfaction, the 2017 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2016 is the better value play; if you want a more polished version and can spend more, the 2018 is worth a look.

How does the 2017 Ford Mustang compare to the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro?

Our experts score the 2017 Ford Mustang 7.8/10 and the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro 8.2/10. The Camaro edges ahead on the score and brings slightly better fuel economy, while the Mustang offers more horsepower and a lower average used price. You also get more listings to shop in the Mustang, which can make it easier to find the right combination of condition and price. If you want the stronger value and broader inventory, the Mustang has the edge; if you want the slightly higher-rated choice, the Camaro is the one to beat.
