How much does the 2024 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have softened 2.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,176 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Mustang earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Its expert rating is 7.17/10.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the Mustang’s speed, handling, and engine sound, and they also like the updated technology. The manual transmission remains a highlight for drivers who want a more engaging experience, and higher-trim comfort features such as heated and ventilated seats also draw positive feedback.

The trade-offs are familiar for a muscle car: the back seat is cramped, cargo space is limited, and the cabin can be noisy. That makes it a better fit if you want a distinctive performance car than if you need everyday practicality.

Even so, 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter most to enthusiasts: strong performance, a satisfying driving experience, and features that continue to work well over time. The expert evaluation also notes that the Mustang’s performance is approachable and easy to live with, which supports confidence for daily use.

The available maintenance and ownership experience is helped by the Mustang’s straightforward performance focus and well-sorted controls, which can make long-term use feel less complicated than you might expect from a muscle car.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about whether the car has been driven hard or modified without proper care.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear from spirited driving, cabin condition, and any signs of neglected maintenance. Since this model is often bought for performance, it is especially important to confirm that the car has been treated consistently rather than used as a hard-driven weekend toy.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin gets a much more modern look, with a striking glass panel that encloses the digital instrument panel and infotainment touchscreen, and materials quality is improved with fewer hard plastic surfaces. Base models use two separate screens, while Premium models place them in a single enclosure.
• Powertrain: The entry-level engine is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. The GT uses a 5.0-liter V8 with 480 hp and 415 lb-ft, or 486 hp and 418 lb-ft with the optional Active Exhaust, and it comes standard with a six-speed manual.
• Safety package: Standard safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available as options.
• Infotainment: All models get a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, Amazon Alexa integration is included, and a Wi-Fi hotspot is standard. A native navigation system and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder EcoBoost is estimated at 22 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined. The V8 GT is rated at 15 mpg city and 24 mpg highway with the automatic, or 1 mpg lower across the board with the manual.

Which 2024 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Mustang is offered in 2 trim levels: EcoBoost and GT.

Here's the short version:

• EcoBoost: This is the value play if you want Mustang style and strong everyday performance without stepping into V8 pricing. It delivers 315 horsepower, standard rear-wheel drive, and the full modern tech setup, making it the best fit if you care most about affordability and balanced performance.
• GT: This is the better choice if you want the classic Mustang experience. The 480-hp V8, standard manual transmission, and stronger performance character make it the enthusiast pick, and it’s the trim to choose if you want the most satisfying powertrain.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, while adaptive cruise control and the safe passenger exit warning remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,176 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.79% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,892, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $38,055 sits slightly below last year's $39,148.

That price movement suggests the Mustang has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim choice than on broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples should still hold appeal because the Mustang remains a distinctive performance car with strong enthusiast demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2024 Ford Mustang earns Good ratings from IIHS, and the previous generation on which it is based received five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available as options.

One caveat to keep in mind is that the Mustang’s crash-test results for this model year are not yet available, so you should lean on the prior-generation results and the standard safety equipment when evaluating it.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert summary highlights a final-tour Mustang with meaningful interior and technology upgrades.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern version of this generation with strong tech, solid owner satisfaction, and a market that still offers some negotiating room, the 2024 is the one to target. If your priority is simply the lowest possible entry price, a nearby model year may save you money, but you’ll want to compare condition and equipment closely before giving up the 2024’s updates.
