Summary
With 393 currently listed for sale near Dallas, TX and an average price of $38,518, 24.4% of 2024 Ford Mustangs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Ford Mustang 4.75 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2024 Ford Mustang stands out as the last remaining muscle car, and that alone gives it a special place in the market. It returns for a final tour as its primary rivals head to retirement, and this seventh-generation pony car is based on its predecessor but receives numerous upgrades that significantly improve its interior and technology. That combination of nostalgia and modernization helps the Mustang feel familiar while still moving forward.
It also remains appealing as a fun car on a budget, with the kind of performance and driving character that keep it true to its name. The available strengths are clear: a powerful engine, great handling, and excellent value for money. At the same time, it is not the most practical choice, with a cramped back seat, not much cargo space, and a noisy cabin. For buyers who want a distinctive performance car and can live with those compromises, the 2024 Ford Mustang makes a strong case for itself.

One of the few cars yet available with a manual transmission. Gotta love the V8. Imho, UI for all the tech could be a bit more intuitive and easy to use but, some of this is my need to learn it. Sure wish they still provided a printed owners manual.

How much does the 2024 Ford Mustang cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $37,852 |
| Year-Round Low | $35,894 |
| Year-Round High | $39,597 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $39,597 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −4.41% |
Prices have softened 4.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 3,291 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2024 Ford Mustang a good car?
Yes — 4.75/5 owners rate it highly, and the expert rating is 7.17/10. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Technology.
Owners consistently praise the Mustang’s performance and driving experience, especially its speed, handling, and engine sound. The updated technology and available comfort features in higher trims also come through as recurring positives, along with the manual transmission for drivers who want a more engaging feel.
The trade-offs are familiar for a muscle car: the cabin is noisy, the back seat is cramped, and cargo space is limited. That makes it a better fit if you want a distinctive performance car for everyday driving than if you need a practical all-rounder.
With 35.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Ford Mustang reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owners’ feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter most to enthusiasts: strong performance, a satisfying driving experience, and a powertrain character people enjoy living with over time. The expert evaluation also notes that the car’s performance and controls work as they should, without false alarms or glitches.
The Mustang’s ownership risk for used buyers is less about outright reliability drama and more about choosing a well-kept example that has been maintained consistently.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Mustang?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a performance car like this, since condition can vary a lot depending on how the previous owner drove and maintained it. Focus on signs of wear that match the car’s mileage and use, and pay close attention to the cabin, tires, brakes, and any evidence of hard driving.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base car uses a more stripped-down interior layout with two separate screens, while Premium models place the displays in a single enclosure and add a more upscale presentation. That makes the higher trims the better fit if you want the most polished cabin.
- Powertrain: The entry engine is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. The GT steps up to a 5.0-liter V8 with 480 hp and 415 lb-ft, or 486 hp and 418 lb-ft with the optional Active Exhaust, and it comes standard with a six-speed manual.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are optional.
- Infotainment: Every model gets a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, Amazon Alexa integration is included, and a Wi-Fi hotspot comes on all models. A native navigation system and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system are optional.
- Fuel efficiency: The EcoBoost is estimated at 22 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined. The GT with the automatic is rated at 15 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined, while the manual drops fuel economy by 1 mpg across the board.
Which 2024 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?
The 2024 Ford Mustang is offered in 2 trim levels: EcoBoost and GT.
Here's the short version:
- EcoBoost: This is the value play if you want the Mustang experience at the lowest starting price. You still get 315 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, the 13.2-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the core safety tech, so it covers the essentials well without pushing you into V8 pricing.
- GT: This is the better choice if you want the classic muscle-car payoff. The 5.0-liter V8 brings a big jump in output, the standard manual transmission adds engagement, and the car’s strongest performance character lives here. If you care most about driving feel, this is the one to target.
Adaptive cruise control and the safe passenger exit warning remain optional rather than standard.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Mustang?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare listings.
- Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,291 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.41% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 89.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $35,894, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Ford Mustang's resale value?
The current average of $37,852 sits slightly below last year's $39,597.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean future resale gains are limited unless you choose a particularly desirable configuration. For a seller, the softer trend means pricing competitively will matter more than ever.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Ford Mustang safe?
The 2024 Ford Mustang is not yet rated by NHTSA or IIHS, but the previous generation on which this model is built received five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA and a Good IIHS score in all tests except the driver-side small overlap test, where it scored Acceptable.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available as options.
Should I buy a 2024 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.41% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The expert summary highlights a final tour for the Mustang as rivals disappear, along with meaningful interior and technology upgrades.
The bottom line: The 2024 model is the right pick if you want the newest version of this generation with updated tech, strong owner satisfaction, and a market that still offers decent deal availability. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby model year may be worth considering, but the 2024 gives you the most current take on the Mustang formula.
