How much does the 2024 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have softened 2.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,107 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Mustang earns 4.75/5 from owners and 7.17/10 from our experts. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its speed, handling, and driving experience, along with the sound of the engine and the updated technology. The manual transmission also stands out for drivers who want a more engaging feel, and higher-trim comfort features get positive mentions too.

On the trade-off side, the expert review points to a cramped back seat and limited cargo space, and it also notes that the car can be noisy. That fits the Mustang’s role in the market: it is aimed at buyers who want fun on a budget, with nostalgia and modern tech layered into a classic muscle-car formula.

Good and great deals account for 35.1% of listings, so there is still meaningful room to shop around.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with strong performance and a driving experience people are happy to live with over time. The expert review also describes the controls and systems as working as they should, with no false alarms or glitches to report.

The Mustang’s ownership picture looks strongest for buyers who value a proven, engaging sports car and are willing to accept the usual compromises that come with that formula. For used shoppers, the main long-term risk is less about satisfaction and more about choosing a well-kept example that has been maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you are considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear items, cabin condition, and whether the car has been used hard. Because this model is about performance and tech, pay close attention to how the drivetrain, electronics, and interior features operate in real-world use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin gets a more modern look with a glass panel that encloses the digital instrument panel and infotainment touchscreen, and materials quality is improved with fewer hard plastic surfaces. Base models use two separate screens, while Premium models place them in a single enclosure, so the higher trim has the more upscale presentation.
• Powertrain: The entry engine is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. The GT uses a 5.0-liter V8 with 480 hp and 415 lb-ft, or 486 hp and 418 lb-ft with the optional Active Exhaust, and it comes standard with a six-speed manual.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available as options.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with Amazon Alexa integration and a Wi-Fi hotspot. A native navigation system is optional, as is a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder EcoBoost is rated at 22 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined. The V8 GT with the automatic is rated at 15 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined, while the manual drops fuel economy by 1 mpg across the board.

Which 2024 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Mustang is offered in 2 trim levels: EcoBoost, GT.

Here's the short version:

• EcoBoost: This is the value play if you want the Mustang experience at the lower entry price. It brings the turbocharged four-cylinder, strong everyday performance, and the same core tech and safety equipment as the rest of the lineup, making it the best fit for buyers who care most about price and efficiency.
• GT: This is the trim to choose if you want the full muscle-car character. The V8, standard manual transmission, and stronger performance make it the more rewarding pick for enthusiasts, and it is the better choice if you want the Mustang to feel as special as its reputation suggests.

The standard safety package is broad, but adaptive cruise control and the safe passenger exit warning remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,107 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.96% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,892, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $38,014 sits slightly below last year's $39,173.

That softer pricing trend suggests buyers have a bit more room today than they did a year ago, which can help you negotiate a better purchase price. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice than on broad market momentum alone.

Because the Mustang still draws strong interest from shoppers who want performance and nostalgia in one package, well-kept examples should continue to attract attention. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2024 Ford Mustang earns Good ratings from IIHS and five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA in the prior-generation crash evaluations it is based on.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available as options.

The main caveat is that current crash test results for this model year are not yet available, so you are relying on the prior generation’s performance as a guide.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review highlights a final-tour Mustang with major interior and technology upgrades, which makes this year especially appealing if you want the newest version of the classic formula.

The bottom line: The 2024 Mustang is the right pick if you want the most modern take on the last remaining muscle car and you value its updated cabin, strong performance, and broad market availability. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and target the lower end of the range, but the 2024 is the better all-around choice if you want the newest body style and tech improvements.
