Is the 2015 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Generally — 4.18/5 from owners and 7.83/10 from expert testing point to a truck that lands well with shoppers. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its power, reliability, and comfortable ride, and many also like how well it handles towing and heavy work. The overview frames it as a full-size truck with strong presence and a particularly appealing TRD Pro setup, which fits the way it blends work-ready capability with a more distinctive personality.

Good and great deals account for 32.1% of listings, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.18/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to reliability as one of the truck’s strengths, alongside power and comfort, and the expert notes also describe it as dependable over time. The cost-effectiveness notes reinforce that view by saying reliability is a bright spot and that both Consumer Reports and J.D. Power expect it to be dependable over time.

Toyota also includes a free scheduled maintenance program for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership, which helps soften early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a thirsty full-size truck can become expensive to live with if maintenance history is uneven or prior use was hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota Tundra?

At 55.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, hauling, or off-road driving. Focus on condition details that matter on a full-size truck: suspension wear, brake feel, tire condition, and signs of hard use around the bed, hitch, and underbody.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The TRD Pro stands out with Toyota Racing Development off-roading hardware, including upgraded shocks, a higher ride height, a front skid plate, dual exhaust, and styling enhancements. It is offered on Double Cab or Crewmax versions, and the content notes that the TRD Pro is especially capable when your driving takes you onto dirt, mud, and boulders.
• Powertrain: The TRD Pro uses a 5.7-liter V8 with 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4-wheel-drive system with Active Traction Control. Toyota also offers Tundra buyers a choice between two V8 engines, and the truck is rated at 13 mpg city and 17 mpg highway, with a 15 mpg combined estimate.
• Safety package: Safety Connect services are not available on any Tundra trim. A blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert is available in some versions, but not the TRD Pro. A reversing camera is standard.
• Infotainment: The TRD Pro gets a 7-inch touchscreen with a premium version of Entune App Suite, plus navigation, HD Radio, traffic and weather data services, iTunes song-tagging, and a quick-charge USB port. Buyers cannot upgrade this system to the JBL premium audio system offered in other versions of the Tundra.
• Fuel efficiency: The truck’s week-long average was 14.5 mpg, and the official estimate is 15 mpg combined, with 13 mpg city and 17 mpg highway.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota Tundra?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,151 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,849, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $23,605 sits slightly below last year's $23,797.

That small decline suggests the market has stayed fairly stable, which is helpful if you plan to sell later because it points to predictable pricing rather than a sharp drop. The truck’s strong owner satisfaction also supports demand, since shoppers often gravitate toward models with a good reputation for power, reliability, and comfort.

Because the year-over-year change is only −0.81%, you are not looking at a truck that has been sliding quickly in value. That makes it easier to estimate future trade-in or private-sale expectations with some confidence.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.18/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2015 Toyota Tundra earns Good ratings from IIHS and a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The truck includes a reversing camera as standard, and a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert is available in some versions, though not on the TRD Pro. Safety Connect services are not available on any Tundra trim, which is a notable gap for a truck in this class.

One caveat to keep in mind is that the IIHS small overlap frontal impact test had not been assessed in the source material.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.18/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Aside from a thirsty engine and a lack of key safety features, the 2015 Toyota Tundra remains a worthy alternative to the most popular full-size trucks, especially when decked out in TRD Pro trim.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $22,580, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $23,605 average.
• It feels especially well suited to real truck use.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $25,036, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $23,605 average.
• It adds an upgraded Entune system and practical updates for upper trims.

The bottom line: If you want the most characterful version of this truck and value a stable market, the 2015 is the right place to start. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2014 is the better value play, while the 2016 makes sense if you want the newer-feeling updates and are willing to pay more.
