Is the 2015 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Ford F-150 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.

The overview also points to broad appeal for work, family duty, business fleets, and buyers who want a highly configurable truck. With 30.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2015 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights reliability, and the expert evaluation says the EcoBoost engines have been proven exceptionally reliable. The same assessment also notes that modern turbochargers can last for many hundreds of thousands of miles, which supports confidence in long-term durability. Ford’s maintenance and update support for the truck’s tech also helps ownership feel manageable.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that early-generation complexity can make condition and maintenance history matter more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford F-150?

At 65.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, hauling, or off-road driving. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of repair, and how well the truck’s equipment and electronics function. Because this model year can be configured many ways, matching the truck’s condition to its intended use matters a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. The base truck is the most work-focused, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want a daily driver rather than a basic hauler.
• Powertrain: The engine lineup includes a naturally aspirated V6, two EcoBoost V6 options, and a V8. The EcoBoost engines are described as especially strong, and the turbocharged setup is meant to deliver performance without a fuel-economy penalty when you do not need full power.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance tech includes Blind-Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, Lane-Keeping system, Curve Control, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera system, and trailer-focused aids. Some features are available rather than standard, so trim and option content matter.
• Infotainment: Available MyFordTouch uses an 8-inch touchscreen and can include navigation, Sync hands-free features, and a 5-year trial of SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link. The system is capable, but the interface can be difficult to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The performance evaluation cites 17 mpg city/23 highway/19 combined, and the cost-effectiveness section says the EcoBoost powertrains have the potential to deliver superior fuel economy.

Which 2015 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2015 Ford F-150 is offered in 5 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most basic choice, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup and do not need extra comfort or tech.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday usability and is the trim level most clearly tied to the available tech and comfort features in the evaluation.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for additional refinement over the lower trims.
• King Ranch: This is the better pick if you want a more premium truck with a stronger luxury lean.
• Platinum: This is the top-end choice for buyers who want the most upscale version of the standard lineup.

The safety package is broad, but several driver-assistance features are available rather than standard, so check each truck’s equipment list carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford F-150?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,801 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,491, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $17,491 sits slightly below last year's $18,830.

That decline suggests the truck has become more affordable for buyers, which can make it easier to move later if you own one in strong condition. Because resale depends heavily on equipment, condition, and use history, well-kept trucks with desirable options should hold up better than heavily worked examples. The broad used-market supply also means your truck will need to stand out on condition and trim content.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2015 Ford F-150 earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

It is equipped with active and passive safety technology, including Curve Control, Blind-Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, and Lane-Keeping support. The evaluation also notes trailer-related safety aids and available inflatable rear seatbelts in the SuperCrew model. Some of these features are trim-dependent, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used listing.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert summary: It introduced aluminum body construction and turbocharged power, giving the truck a distinctly modern feel.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $18,635, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $17,491 average.
• It leans harder into luxury with tasteful trimmings and a more upscale personality.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2015 is the smarter starting point because it combines strong owner satisfaction, broad inventory, and a softer price. If you want a more upscale truck and are willing to pay more, the 2016 is the better path.

How does the 2015 Ford F-150 compare to the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Our experts score the 2015 Ford F-150 8.8/10 and the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 7.5/10.

The F-150 comes out ahead on expert evaluation, and it also offers stronger highway fuel economy in the comparison data. The Silverado is slightly cheaper on average, but the Ford has more listings available and a higher accident-free share. If you want the stronger all-around package, the F-150 is the better pick; if price matters most, the Silverado remains a reasonable alternative.
