Used 2023 Toyota Tundra for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2023 Toyota Tundra cost?

Prices have softened 5.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,880 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota Tundra earns a 4.83/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its powerful engine, comfortable interior, and smooth ride. They also like its stylish appearance and fuel efficiency, which lines up with the truck’s more modern character and broad appeal for buyers who want something current rather than merely familiar.

The main trade-offs are its potentially polarizing design and the fact that not all safety features are standard. That means you may love the truck’s presence and tech, but you should still check the equipment list carefully before you buy.

With 34.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, with praise for its powerful engine and smooth, trouble-free driving character. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the Tundra’s engineering improvements and strong overall capability, which supports the impression that this is a truck built to be counted on.

ToyotaCare adds factory-scheduled maintenance and roadside assistance for two years or 25,000 miles at no additional cost, which helps reduce early ownership hassle. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is making sure prior use, maintenance, and recall history are clean before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Tundra?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has towing or off-road use in its past. Focus on condition, equipment, and whether the truck has the features you want, since some safety items are not standard across the lineup.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR and SR5 are the entry points, while higher trims add more comfort and equipment. The SR5 can also be had with the SX Package, which adds dark gray metallic 18-inch wheels, body-color trim pieces, blacked-out exterior details, and black interior accents.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. A hybrid version is available on select trims and standard on the TRD Pro and Capstone, delivering 437 hp and 583 lb-ft.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 comes standard and includes automatic emergency braking, road-sign detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, and a sway warning system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available, but not standard on every trim.
• Infotainment: An 8-inch touchscreen comes on the SR and SR5, while the 14-inch screen is optional on SR5 and standard above it. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the 14-inch system adds crisp graphics and fast response times.
• Fuel efficiency: The truck is described as more efficient than the previous generation, but no MPG figure is stated here.

Which 2023 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Tundra is offered in 7 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it gives you the basics plus the Tundra’s strong standard engine and core safety tech. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the larger screen and extra comfort features.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to the available 14-inch touchscreen and the SX Package. It’s the trim to target if you want a more modern feel without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Limited: This trim adds more convenience and tech, including the standard 14-inch screen and wireless phone charging. It’s a smart step up if you want a better-equipped daily driver.
• Platinum: This is where the Tundra starts leaning into luxury, with more premium equipment and the hybrid powertrain standard. Choose it if comfort and upscale features matter more than keeping the price in check.
• 1794 Edition: This trim follows the same upscale path as Platinum and also gets the hybrid powertrain standard. It suits you if you want a more distinctive luxury-oriented Tundra.
• TRD Pro: This is the off-road-focused choice, with a lift, Fox shocks, BBS wheels, 33-inch tires, crawl control, and a locking rear differential. Buy this only if you want genuine trail capability and can live with its size.
• Capstone: This is the luxury flagship, with the hybrid powertrain standard and the most premium positioning in the lineup. It’s the right pick if you want the most upscale Tundra experience.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard across the lineup, so check carefully if those features matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Tundra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,880 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $42,777, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $42,777 sits slightly below last year's $45,424.

That softer pricing can work in your favor if you buy now, because you’re entering at a lower baseline than last year’s shoppers. For a future seller, the current trend suggests there may be less immediate upside than in a rising market, but the truck’s broad appeal still helps support demand.

Strong equipment, good owner satisfaction, and a reputation for capability can all help a used truck hold attention when it’s time to resell. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records clean, you should be in a better position to attract buyers later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2023 Toyota Tundra earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS in CrewMax form.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 comes standard, with automatic emergency braking, road-sign detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, and a sway warning system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available, but they are not standard across the lineup.

That means the truck gives you a strong core safety package, but you should verify whether the specific used example includes the extra driver-assistance features you want. If safety equipment matters a lot to you, trim choice and option content are worth close attention.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Toyota keeps the formula intact and adds an SX appearance package for the SR5 trim.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $38,653, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $42,777 average.
• It launched the redesigned generation with a broad update and strong durability appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $44,792, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $42,777 average.
• It adds an open-air driving experience and leans harder into the TRD Pro’s appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, modern tech, and broad availability, the 2023 is the sensible default. If you’re shopping on a tighter budget, the 2022 can save you money while still giving you the redesigned Tundra experience. If you want to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2024 is worth a look, but you’ll pay a premium for it.
