How much does the 2014 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices are up 1.61% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,221 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Ford Mustang earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.0/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, classic design, impressive handling, and the sound of the exhaust. The overview also points to a car that blends classic Mustang character with serious performance, which makes it a strong fit if you want a muscle car that still feels polished and capable.

You should also keep in mind that the Mustang is less about everyday utility than maximum driving enjoyment, with some owners noting cramped back seats and smaller trunk space in some models. Even so, 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as powerful, classic, and impressive to drive, and the review summary also points to a car that feels dependable enough to inspire repeat enthusiasm. The expert cost-effectiveness notes say J.D. Power and Associates ranks the Mustang above average, which supports the idea that it can be a sensible long-term ownership choice for the segment.

The expert drive notes also emphasize that the Mustang’s powertrain delivers strong performance with composure, which is a good sign for durability-minded shoppers. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the car’s core appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not driven hard without proper care.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

At 57.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven enthusiastically. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment and wear match its mileage and asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Mustang brings a 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, stainless steel dual exhaust, HID headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels, while the V6 Premium adds leather upholstery, the SYNC system, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, premium audio with satellite radio, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. GT trims add a 5.0-liter powerplant, Brembo brakes, a touchscreen navigation system with real-time traffic information, upgraded audio with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, and 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a 3.7-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, and it runs on 87-octane gas. The GT uses a 5.0-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, but it asks for premium fuel and returns lower fuel economy.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The car does not include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.
• Infotainment: Standard tech includes Ford’s SYNC AppLink technology for hands-free calling and voice control of apps on linked mobile devices. An available Electronics Package adds a touchscreen and voice-controlled navigation system with SiriusXM real-time traffic information, HD radio, a 6-month Travel Link subscription, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.7-liter V6 is rated at 31 mpg on the highway with the 6-speed manual, while the GT automatic is rated at 18 mpg city, 25 highway, and 20 combined. The GT manual is rated at 15 mpg city and 26 highway.

Which 2014 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: base, V6 Premium, GT, GT Premium.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the value play if you want the Mustang experience at the lowest entry price. You still get the 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, HID headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels, so it covers the essentials without pushing the budget too far.
• V6 Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want a more comfortable and better-equipped daily driver. It adds leather upholstery, SYNC, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, premium audio with satellite radio, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
• GT: Choose this if you want the V8 performance and the stronger hardware that comes with it. It adds the 5.0-liter engine, Brembo brakes, upgraded audio, navigation, and larger wheels, making it the clear step up for performance-focused buyers.
• GT Premium: This is the trim to target if you want the most complete Mustang experience. It layers premium comfort and convenience on top of GT performance, and it’s the best fit if you want the strongest mix of power, features, and everyday livability.

The safety content notes that the car does not include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,221 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.61% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 57.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,327, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $15,670 sits slightly above last year's $15,422.

That modest increase suggests the Mustang has held value reasonably well, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. The year-over-year gain also points to steady buyer interest rather than a softening market.

Because the price range remains fairly tight, a well-kept example should still attract attention when you decide to list it. Strong condition, clean history, and desirable equipment will matter most if you want to maximize your return.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2014 Ford Mustang Convertible earns five-star ratings for rollover protection from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The safety content also notes that the car lacks more advanced driver-assistance systems such as blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.61% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 is the culmination of five decades of engineering development, with strong performance and polished composure.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $19,759, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,670 average.
• It brings a redesigned version of the Mustang with big gains in dynamics and technology.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the smarter buy because it combines strong owner satisfaction, solid market demand, and a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer redesign with broader tech and dynamic improvements, the 2015 is the better upgrade path.
