overall

Summary
With 132 currently listed for sale near Los Angeles, CA and an average price of $16,822, 18.2% of 2014 Ford Mustangs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Ford Mustang 4.86 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Ford Mustang stands out as the culmination of five decades of engineering development, and the result is a Pony car that has never been better. Its appeal is rooted in the way it blends classic Mustang character with a more polished driving experience, making it attractive to buyers who want a performance car with a long-established identity.
Under hard acceleration, the 5.0-liter engine pulls eagerly deep into redline territory, and it does so without a significant amount of rear-end squat. That gives the car a strong, composed feel when driven hard, and it helps explain why the Mustang remains so appealing to enthusiasts. At the same time, some drivers note cramped back seats and smaller trunk space in some models, so its strengths are most obvious when the focus is on performance and style rather than everyday practicality.

Amazing car, very fun to drive with just enough amount of power. Small and compact which makes it easy to maneuver. This is my daily driver and I love it and yes a V8 has superior performance but I dont race so this is perfect.

Yes — it earns a 4.86/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.
You’ll see recurring praise for its powerful performance, classic design, impressive handling, and the sound and style that come with the Mustang’s character. The overview also points to a car that blends classic Mustang identity with a more polished driving experience, which fits buyers who want a performance car with a long-established nameplate. Even with some complaints about rear-seat space and trunk room, the market still shows 31.2% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile listings if you shop carefully.
Is the 2014 Ford Mustang reliable?
Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a car people feel good about keeping, with praise centered on its dependable performance, classic appeal, and the kind of driving experience owners want to count on over time. Expert commentary also notes above-average dependability, which supports the idea that this Mustang can be a solid long-term choice if you buy a well-kept example. What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Mustang?
At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Focus on condition details that matter most on a performance car: drivetrain behavior, brake wear, tire condition, and signs of cosmetic or structural repair. If you’re comparing multiple listings, put the cleanest history and best maintenance record ahead of the flashiest spec sheet.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base car brings a 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, stainless steel dual exhaust, HID headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels, while the V6 Premium adds leather upholstery, the smartphone-linked SYNC system, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, a premium audio package with satellite radio service, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The GT trims step up to a 5.0-liter powerplant, 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels, upgraded Brembo brakes, a touchscreen navigation system with real-time traffic information, upgraded audio with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, and functional hood vents.
- Powertrain: The base engine is a 3.7-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, and it can return 31 mpg on the highway with the 6-speed manual. The GT uses a 5.0-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, and the automatic version is rated at 18 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The car does not include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.
- Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Ford’s SYNC AppLink technology, and the available Electronics Package adds a touchscreen and voice-controlled navigation system with SiriusXM real-time traffic information, HD radio, a 6-month subscription to Travel Link, and dual-zone automatic climate control. A rear-view camera is also available.
- Fuel efficiency: The V6 with the 6-speed manual is rated at 31 mpg on the highway, while the GT automatic is rated at 18 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.
Which 2014 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?
The 2014 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: base, V6 Premium, GT, GT Premium.
Here's the short version:
- base: This is the least expensive way into the Mustang, and it gives you the 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, HID headlights, stainless steel dual exhaust, and 17-inch alloy wheels. It makes sense if you want the Mustang look and feel at the lowest entry price.
- V6 Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want a more comfortable daily driver without jumping to V8 pricing. You get leather upholstery, the smartphone-linked SYNC system, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, a premium audio package with satellite radio service, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
- GT: This is the performance-focused choice if you want the 5.0-liter V8, Brembo brakes, upgraded audio, a touchscreen navigation system with real-time traffic information, and larger wheels. It’s the trim to target if power is your priority.
- GT Premium: This is the most complete version of the V8 car, combining the GT’s performance hardware with the richer feature set that makes the cabin feel more special. It suits you best if you want the strongest mix of performance and amenities.
The safety content notes that the car does not include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Mustang?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, but the best listings still deserve quick attention.
- Deal availability: 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,193 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 7.83% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 58.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,324, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Ford Mustang's resale value?
The current average of $16,060 sits slightly above last year's $14,895.
That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay more for this model year, which can help support resale if you buy well and keep the car in strong condition. The relatively tight spread between the year-round low and high also suggests pricing can move quickly when a clean, well-equipped example appears. If you’re a future seller, strong maintenance records and a clean history should matter a lot in protecting value.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 7.83% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2014 is the culmination of five decades of Mustang development, blending classic character with a more polished driving experience.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $20,141, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,060 average.
- It brings a redesigned body and a clear step forward in dynamics and technology.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter buy because it combines strong owner satisfaction, a broad listing pool, and a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer redesign and a more modern feel, the 2015 is the better upgrade path.
