CarGurus Analysis: 2014 Chevrolet Camaro

Summary
With 139 currently listed for sale near Los Angeles, CA and an average price of $14,165, 15.1% of 2014 Chevrolet Camaros for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro 4.75 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro stands out as a muscle car that blends strong performance with a more modern feature set than its reputation might suggest. In the fifth-generation Camaro section, Chevrolet says the 2014 model received revised styling for all models except the ZL1, which kept its look for cooling and aerodynamic downforce. That same year also brought back the Camaro Z/28 as the top model, with a 7.0-liter, 505hp naturally aspirated V8, a six-speed manual transmission, and exclusive tuning for track use. For buyers drawn to the Camaro’s classic shape but wanting a car with serious performance credentials, that combination makes the 2014 model especially distinctive.
It also offered a broader range of everyday appeal than just the headline performance versions. The 2014 Camaro was available as a coupe or convertible, and the fifth-generation lineup included LS, LT, and SS trims with an optional RS Package. Chevrolet had already added MyLink touchscreen infotainment in 2013, and the buying guide notes that interior quality had improved by 2012. At the same time, the car still carried some familiar drawbacks: the guide describes the fifth-generation Camaro as particularly troublesome overall, with a significant number of complaints, and the user reviews echo concerns about visibility and an outdated interior feel.

2014 Camaro LT review, this one being the 3.6L 6 speed manual car. I can say for a 6 cyl it still makes a fun sports car, especially if put on a good set of 20" rims with performance tires, they can really handle corners better than expected. The 5th gen Camaro overall is an excellent sturdy car, the type of car you can jump in and drive cross country with 50,000 miles or 300,000 miles on the clock and you know it will just get there every time. I used to commute 2 1/2 hours with this car and it averaged 32 miles per gallon, in instances with long flat roads it exceeded that even. The cons, the small windows can be a bit unnerving to get used to at first, after driving the car for a couple months it becomes a non issue and pretty easy to park anywhere. The paint is thin, and prone to chips and scratches, the interior fades and scratches easily, and if you have cloth seats they stain and tear easily.. Mechanically the car is rock solid as long as your aware of the timing chain service every 130k miles or so, and the fact the synchro's in the v6 manual are not for racing.. If your ok with those two gripes, there is nothing mechanically that will ever be an issue with these cars. They are very well supported in the aftermarket as well for parts.

The LS3 motor truly is a work of art, gobs of power and torque on demand at any rpm, and that doesn't even mention the sound from the car. Despite the performance, there is plenty of comfort with these beautiful leather seats. The back up camera could use lines to help you see where your car is going to be placed, but of course there's good old fashion mirrors for that. The blindspots are pretty large but with some smart mirror placement they go away pretty easily. I've dreamed of owning a Camaro since 2010 when I was just 8 years old, having one now is surreal and this car has far exceeded the expectations I've been building up for over a decade.

How much does the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,388 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,149 |
| Year-Round High | $15,781 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $15,564 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.13% |
Prices have softened 1.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,199 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?
Yes — the 4.75/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the sporty design, great performance, and powerful engine, and they also like the technology and handling. For you, that means this Camaro fits best if you want a stylish muscle car with real performance character and enough everyday usability to make it more than just a weekend toy. With 29.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially when it comes to performance and overall enjoyment. At the same time, the broader model-year reputation suggests you should pay close attention to condition and maintenance history before you commit. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is best managed by choosing a well-documented example rather than assuming every car will age the same way.
What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Chevrolet Camaro?
At 53.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified, driven hard, or lacks complete service records. Focus your condition check on bodywork, panel alignment, interior wear, and any signs that the car’s performance or visibility-related issues have been ignored.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Chevrolet Camaro?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and focused.
- Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,199 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.13% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 53.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,149, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?
The current average of $15,388 sits slightly below last year's $15,564.
That tells you the market has softened a bit, which can matter if you plan to sell in the near future. A lower current average price can make it harder to recover as much value as you might expect if you buy at the top of the range. On the other hand, a well-kept Camaro with strong appeal should still attract attention from shoppers who want a performance coupe or convertible with recognizable nameplate value.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2014 if:
- 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 53.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.13% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2014 if you want a Camaro with strong owner approval, a broad mix of trims and body styles, and a market that still offers some deal potential. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep shopping carefully and compare condition closely, because the best value will come from a clean, well-maintained example rather than simply the cheapest one you can find.
