How much does the 2014 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices are up 3.78% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,226 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Ford Mustang earns a 4.86/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Cost effectiveness.

You get a strong mix of powerful performance, classic design, and an engaging driving experience. Owners also consistently praise the handling and the exhaust note, while the overview points to a car that feels mature and well developed rather than dated.

That said, the Mustang’s appeal is strongest if you care more about style and driving enjoyment than everyday practicality. The back seat can feel cramped, and some shoppers may find the trunk space limited.

With 30.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a car that drivers enjoy for its powerful performance, classic design, impressive handling, and the sound of the exhaust. The cost-effectiveness notes also say the Mustang ranks above average for dependability, which supports the idea that it can be a trouble-free choice when maintained well.

The performance notes reinforce that the V6 runs on regular gas and the GT delivers strong output, while the cost-effectiveness section adds that the Mustang’s dependability is rated above average. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core drivetrain and more about finding a well-kept example with consistent maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

At 57.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment matches the listing. Because this model can be bought in several configurations, it also helps to confirm that the specific car you’re considering has the features you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base car comes with a 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, stainless steel dual exhaust, HID headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels, while the V6 Premium adds leather upholstery, SYNC, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, premium audio with satellite radio, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The GT trims step up to a 5.0-liter engine, upgraded Brembo brakes, a touchscreen navigation system with real-time traffic information, upgraded audio with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, HID headlights, functional hood vents, and 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels.
• Powertrain: The base 3.7-liter V6 makes 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque and can return an EPA-estimated 31 mpg on the highway with the manual transmission. The GT’s 5.0-liter V8 makes 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, but it uses premium fuel and is rated at 15 mpg city and 26 mpg highway with the manual.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The car does not include more advanced systems like blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes Ford’s SYNC AppLink technology, and an available Electronics Package adds a touchscreen and voice-controlled navigation system with SiriusXM real-time traffic information, HD radio, a 6-month Travel Link subscription, and dual-zone automatic climate control. A rear-view camera is also available.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 with the manual transmission is rated at 31 mpg highway, while the GT manual is rated at 15 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. The GT also averaged 19.4 mpg in testing.

Which 2014 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2014 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: base, V6 Premium, GT, GT Premium.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the least expensive way into the Mustang, and it gives you the 6-cylinder engine, cruise control, HID headlights, stainless steel dual exhaust, and 17-inch alloy wheels. It makes sense if you want the Mustang look and feel at the lowest entry price.
• V6 Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want a more comfortable daily driver without jumping to V8 pricing. You get leather upholstery, SYNC, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, aluminum interior trim, premium audio with satellite radio, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
• GT: This is the trim to choose if performance is your priority. It adds the 5.0-liter V8, Brembo brakes, a touchscreen navigation system with real-time traffic information, upgraded audio with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, functional hood vents, and larger wheels.
• GT Premium: This is the most complete version of the standard Mustang lineup, pairing the GT’s V8 performance with the richer equipment set that makes the car feel more polished and better suited to buyers who want the full experience.

The safety content also notes that the car lacks several advanced driver-assistance features, so you should not expect modern active-safety tech on any trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,226 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.78% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 57.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,326, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $15,614 sits slightly above last year's $15,045.

That upward move suggests the market still values this model year, which can help support resale strength if you buy well and keep the car in good condition. The year-round range also shows that pricing has room to move depending on mileage, trim, and condition, so a clean example can matter a lot when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2014 Ford Mustang Convertible earns five-star ratings from NHTSA for rollover protection, while IIHS results were published for the 2013 Mustang Convertible rather than this model year.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with electronic stability control, hill-start assist with the available 6-speed manual transmission, and 4 airbags. The car does not include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane-departure warning.

Should I buy a 2014 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.78% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 is the polished end of the long-running pre-redesign Mustang formula.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $19,625, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,614 average.
• It brings a redesigned Mustang with broader dynamic and technological appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced, mature version of the classic Mustang formula, the 2014 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to spend more for a redesigned car with a bigger step forward in technology and dynamics, the 2015 is the better alternative. For price-sensitive shoppers, the 2014 offers the stronger value proposition.
