Used 2014 BMW 4 Series for Sale nearWashington, DC

How much does the 2014 BMW 4 Series cost?

Prices have softened 7.11% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 543 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2014 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating and 7.17/10 expert rating both point to a strong overall impression. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the performance, sleek design, and high-quality interior, along with the power, handling, and comfort. That lines up well with the car’s role as a sporty daily driver, especially if you want a luxury coupe that still works for everyday use. The main tradeoffs are limited trunk space and higher maintenance costs, so it fits you best if driving enjoyment matters more than maximum cargo room or low running costs.

Only 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than broadly discounted.

Is the 2014 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that many people feel good about living with over time, especially because it is repeatedly described as dependable in the way it delivers performance, comfort, and driving enjoyment. The expert notes also reinforce that it is a car you can count on for a rewarding drive, with a strong emphasis on how well it responds on the road. At the same time, higher maintenance costs mean you should budget carefully if you plan to keep one for the long haul.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 BMW 4 Series?

At 51.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on condition details that matter on a used luxury coupe: interior wear, electronics, and signs that the car has been maintained consistently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 428i should be on your short list if you want the best balance of fun and practicality, while the 435i adds more power for buyers who want a stronger performance focus.
• Powertrain: The 428i uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder with 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, while the 435i uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and xDrive all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: The car comes with front and side impact airbags, and the test model included a backup camera. More active safety tech costs extra.
• Infotainment: The system uses iDrive, which is solid once you learn it, but the test model lacked navigation and streaming Bluetooth audio.

Which 2014 BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2014 BMW 4 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 428i, 435i.

Here's the short version:

• 428i: This is the best-value choice if you want the core 4 Series experience without paying for extra power. It delivers the sporty, practical balance that makes the car appealing in the first place, and it should suit you well if you want a daily driver that still feels engaging.
• 435i: Choose this if you want the stronger straight-line performance and are willing to pay more for it. It is the more powerful option, so it makes sense if performance matters more to you than value.

The safety content notes that the car comes with the requisite safety equipment, but more active safety tech requires paying extra.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 BMW 4 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 543 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,094, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $12,560 sits slightly below last year's $13,521.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you keep the car in strong condition and maintain it well, you can help protect value better than the average listing. The biggest resale advantage will come from a clean history, desirable equipment, and documentation that shows the car was cared for properly.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 BMW 4 Series safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The 4 Series comes with the requisite safety equipment, including front and side impact airbags, and the test model also had a backup camera. More active safety tech costs extra, so you should check whether a used example has the driver-assistance equipment you want. The expert review also flags a weak backup camera image at night, which is worth checking during your test drive if you plan to rely on it regularly.

Should I buy a 2014 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 introduces the 4 Series name and a more distinct coupe identity.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,642, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $12,560 average.
• It grows into a more distinct, longer, lower, wider design.

The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and a strong mix of performance and everyday usefulness, the 2014 is the better starting point. If you are willing to spend more for a newer-feeling design direction, the 2015 is the better secondary path for buyers who care more about style evolution than value.
