What should I look for when buying a used 2015 BMW 4 Series?

At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on evidence of consistent maintenance, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the car’s premium features still function properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 4 Series is offered as a coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe, and the coupe’s standard look and balanced chassis are part of its appeal. Base cars can feel less richly equipped than higher-spec examples, so you should compare feature content carefully if you want a more premium experience.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 240 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque or a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six with 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The four-cylinder is the efficiency-minded choice, while the six-cylinder delivers the stronger performance character.
• Safety package: BMW offers adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and side- and top-view cameras as an extra-cost safety suite. Standard safety equipment includes antilock brakes, front, side, and knee airbags, daytime running lights, and BMW Assist eCall.
• Infotainment: BMW’s ConnectedDrive system is described as straightforward to navigate, and the car can be equipped with a Technology Package, Bluetooth streaming, and a rear-view camera package. The system is not especially cutting-edge, so you should test it carefully if tech matters to you.
• Fuel efficiency: The 428i is rated at 23 mpg city/35 highway/27 combined, while the 435i is rated at 20/30/23 mpg. Those figures make the four-cylinder the better pick if fuel economy matters more than straight-line speed.

Which 2015 BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2015 BMW 4 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 428i, 435i.

Here's the short version:

• 428i: This is the better-value choice if you want the 4 Series experience without paying for the stronger engine. It still gives you the car’s balanced chassis, stylish design, and the more efficient turbocharged four-cylinder, making it the smarter pick for most shoppers.
• 435i: Choose this if you want the more rewarding performance setup. The turbocharged inline six brings noticeably stronger acceleration and a more effortless feel, but you’ll pay more for it and give up some efficiency.

BMW also offers an extra-cost safety suite with adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and side- and top-view cameras.

What is the 2015 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $13,642 sits slightly below last year's $13,960.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the range and keep the car in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later.

Demand should remain supported by the car’s sporty image, upscale feel, and strong owner satisfaction. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment and clean history are likely to be easier to move than neglected cars with incomplete records.

Should I buy a 2015 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.42/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for its stylish, upscale coupe character and its two-engine lineup that gives you a clear choice between efficiency and stronger performance.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $12,560, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $13,642 average.
• It is best suited to buyers who value driving enjoyment and luxury more than maximum cargo room or low running costs.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2015 is the better primary target. If your budget is tighter and you want to spend less up front, the 2014 is the more price-sensitive path.
