With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with drivers highlighting its trouble-free character, strong long-term appeal, and ability to hold up well across different driving conditions. That kind of feedback matters when you’re shopping used, because it suggests the car can be one you feel comfortable counting on.

The expert driving notes also reinforce that sense of confidence, describing the chassis as predictable and the road manners as composed. On the ownership side, the car’s premium positioning means maintenance and repair costs can still be a factor, so a well-documented service history matters.

If you buy one, prioritize a clean maintenance record and a careful pre-purchase inspection so you can reduce the risk of expensive surprises later.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 BMW 4 Series?

At 49.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then focus on condition, repair quality, and signs of prior bodywork. A pre-purchase inspection is especially useful here because the car’s premium hardware and options can make hidden issues more expensive to sort out later.

Look closely at how the car was equipped, how it was maintained, and whether any accident repairs were done cleanly. If you’re comparing multiple listings, the best one is usually the car with the strongest records, the cleanest presentation, and the fewest signs of deferred maintenance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The coupe’s gorgeous looks and balanced chassis come standard, but the 4 Series can be optioned heavily, and the base setup may miss some of the premium equipment you’d expect. The Gran Coupe adds more usable space, while the convertible changes the ownership experience if you want open-air driving.
• Powertrain: The 428i uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 240 hp and the 435i uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder with 300 hp. The 428i is the more relaxed cruiser, while the 435i feels much more urgent and delivers stronger performance.
• Safety package: The car offers an enhanced safety suite with adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and side- and top-view cameras for $1,900 extra. Standard safety equipment includes antilock brakes, front, side, and knee airbags, daytime running lights, and BMW Assist eCall.
• Infotainment: BMW’s ConnectedDrive system is described as straightforward, and the optional Technology Package adds a heads-up display. The system can also be paired with Bluetooth streaming and a rear-view camera package, though the car is not especially rich in interior tech by luxury-car standards.
• Fuel efficiency: The 428i returns 23 mpg city/35 highway/27 combined, while the 435i is rated at 20/30/23 mpg. AWD can reduce efficiency further.

Which 2015 BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2015 BMW 4 Series is offered in 4 trim levels: 428i, 435i, 428i Gran Coupe, 435i Gran Coupe.

Here's the short version:

• 428i: This is the best-value choice if you want the 4 Series experience without paying for the stronger engine. It delivers the core balance of style, handling, and everyday usability, and it’s the trim most buyers should start with.
• 435i: Choose this if you want the more effortless and more exciting driving experience. The inline-six gives the car a much stronger personality, and it’s the better pick if performance matters most to you.
• 428i Gran Coupe: Pick this if you want the 4 Series look with more usable space. It keeps the 428i’s more approachable character while adding the practicality of the four-door body style.
• 435i Gran Coupe: This is the most powerful and most versatile version in the lineup, combining the stronger engine with the more practical body style for buyers who want both speed and everyday usefulness.

The safety package is available for $1,900 extra, so check whether a listing includes those features before you decide.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 825 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.41% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,419, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $13,419 sits slightly below last year's $13,751.

That tells you the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer now but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If prices stay under pressure, future sellers may need to price more aggressively to move the car.

The good news is that the 4 Series still has a strong enthusiast appeal, and that can help support demand over time. Well-kept examples with clean history and desirable equipment should hold up better than neglected cars with incomplete records.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 BMW 4 Series safe?

The 2015 BMW 4 Series does not have crash-test ratings from either major testing organization.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes antilock brakes, front, side, and knee airbags, daytime running lights, and BMW Assist eCall, which can automatically call for help after a significant crash.

Because the car lacks published crash-test results, you should pay close attention to the presence of the driver-assistance package and the overall condition of the vehicle you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2015 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 model year stands out for its stylish, driver-focused character and the move away from the 3 Series’ shared sheet metal.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $12,251, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $13,419 average.
• It offers a sporty daily-driver feel with strong practicality and enthusiast-friendly appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the more distinctive styling and current-year pricing context, the 2015 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2014 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the core BMW coupe appeal.
