Is the 2015 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Generally — the 4.42/5 user rating and 7.5/10 expert rating point to a car that resonates with shoppers who want style and driving enjoyment. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the sporty performance, modern interior, and overall value, and they also highlight strong handling and confidence in rain and snow. That lines up well with the overview: you’re looking at a driver-focused coupe and convertible family that prioritizes distinctive design and a more engaging feel than a conventional luxury car.

The market also shows 32.1% of listings as good or great deals, so you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.42/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with owners calling out its trouble-free character, strong long-term appeal, and ability to handle varied conditions with confidence. The expert driving notes also emphasize the 4 Series’ solid chassis, predictable responses, and composed road manners, which support the impression of a car you can count on.

The ownership tradeoff is that this is still a premium BMW, so used examples can become expensive if deferred maintenance or option-related repairs stack up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 BMW 4 Series?

At 51.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on panel alignment, tire wear, brake condition, and any signs that the car has been modified or poorly repaired. Because this model was often optioned heavily, make sure the features you want actually work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 4 Series is offered as a coupe, convertible, and 4-door Gran Coupe, and the base setup already brings a distinctive shape and balanced chassis. Higher-spec versions add more equipment, but the source also notes that some premium features are not included compared with other models, so base cars can feel sparse if you expect a fully loaded luxury experience.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 240 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque or a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder with 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The 4-cylinder is the efficiency-minded choice, while the 6-cylinder delivers the stronger, more effortless performance.
• Safety package: The available enhanced safety suite includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and side- and top-view cameras. Standard safety equipment includes antilock brakes, front, side, and knee airbags, daytime running lights, and BMW Assist eCall.
• Infotainment: BMW’s ConnectedDrive system is described as straightforward, and the available Technology Package adds a heads-up display. The source also mentions Bluetooth streaming and a rear-view camera package, but it does not specify wireless smartphone integration or over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The 428i is rated at 23 mpg city/35 highway/27 combined, while the 435i is rated at 20/30/23 mpg. AWD can reduce efficiency somewhat.

Which 2015 BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2015 BMW 4 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 428i and 435i.

Here's the short version:

• 428i: This is the better-value choice if you want the 4 Series experience without paying for the stronger engine. It delivers the core styling, balanced chassis, and respectable efficiency, and it suits you best if you care more about everyday cruising than maximum punch.
• 435i: This is the pick if you want the more rewarding drive. The inline 6 brings noticeably stronger acceleration and a more effortless character, making it the better choice if performance matters most and you’re willing to pay more for it.

The safety package is optional, so if driver-assistance features matter to you, make sure the car you’re considering has the enhanced safety suite installed.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 BMW 4 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 847 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.73% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,416, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $13,712 sits slightly below last year's $13,954.

That tells you the market has softened a bit, which can work against a future seller if you buy at the wrong price. On the other hand, the current range still suggests the car has a defined value band, so a well-kept example should remain easier to position than a neglected one.

Because the model has strong owner satisfaction, demand should stay healthier than average for a used luxury coupe. That helps support resale value, especially if you choose a desirable trim and keep the car in clean condition.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.42/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 BMW 4 Series safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The 4 Series does offer a suite of enhanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and side- and top-view cameras for $1,900 extra. Standard safety features include antilock brakes; driver and passenger front, side, and knee airbags; daytime running lights; and BMW’s Assist eCall that automatically calls for help if the car has been in a significant crash.

One important caveat is that neither the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has rated the 4 Series, so you should lean more heavily on the car’s equipment list and the condition of the specific vehicle you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2015 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.42/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for its stylish, driver-focused design and strong performance/value balance.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $12,248, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $13,712 average.
• It’s a sporty daily driver that aims to be fun to drive and practical.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger market mix of value, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2015 is the better primary target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the core 4 Series appeal.
