At 50.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Focus on overall condition, maintenance history, and signs of past bodywork so you can separate a clean example from one that may carry hidden costs.

What is the 2016 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $14,464 sits slightly below last year's $15,124.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, that also means resale performance will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and documentation. Well-kept examples should hold up better than cars with accident history or deferred maintenance.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,419, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,464 average.
• It offers a more distinctive, longer, lower, and wider design with strong visual appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and availability, the 2016 is the better primary choice. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the better secondary path.
