Used 2014 BMW 4 Series for Sale nearBaltimore, MD

How much does the 2014 BMW 4 Series cost?

Prices have softened 9.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 559 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2014 BMW 4 Series earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its performance, sleek design, and high-quality interior. They also highlight the driving experience, power, handling, and comfort, which fits the model’s role as a sporty daily driver with premium appeal. If you want a coupe that blends enthusiast character with everyday usability, this one lines up well with that use case.

The market also shows 31.1% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter to owners who want performance without giving up daily usability. The expert drive notes also frame it as a sporty daily driver that is practical enough for regular use, with responsive controls and a strong overall driving character. The maintenance-cost concern in owner feedback is worth keeping in mind, though, because higher ownership expenses can affect the long-term experience even when the car itself feels solid.

The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps early ownership costs a bit.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that upkeep can be pricier than you might expect, so service history matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 BMW 4 Series?

At 49.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or electronic repairs. Focus on condition, service records, and whether the car’s features work as intended, since premium coupes can become expensive if deferred maintenance or repair issues are hiding underneath the surface.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 428i is the more approachable choice, while the 435i adds more power and a stronger performance focus. The 428i is the best-value pick if you want the sporty daily-driver formula without stretching for the pricier engine.
• Powertrain: The 428i uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder with 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, while the 435i uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and xDrive all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: The car includes front and side impact airbags, and a backup camera was fitted on the test model. More active safety tech costs extra, so check carefully for the equipment you want.
• Infotainment: The test model had iDrive, but it lacked navigation and streaming Bluetooth audio. It also did not have voice command for those features, so verify the exact tech setup before you buy.
• Fuel efficiency: The 428i returns 23 mpg city and 35 mpg highway with the automatic, while the xDrive version is rated at 22 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. The 435i returns 22 mpg city and 32 mpg highway.

Which 2014 BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2014 BMW 4 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 428i and 435i.

Here's the short version:

• 428i: This is the trim to target if you want the core 4 Series experience at the lower price point. It delivers the turbocharged four-cylinder, strong efficiency, and the sporty balance that makes the car appealing as a daily driver.
• 435i: Choose this if you want more straight-line punch and a more powerful six-cylinder character. It suits you best if performance matters more than keeping costs down.

The safety content notes standard airbags and a backup camera, but more active safety tech requires additional equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 BMW 4 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 559 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.84% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 49.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,089, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $12,248 sits slightly below last year's $13,585.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car more appealing to buyers now but less favorable for sellers trying to maximize return. If you own one, condition and documentation will matter a lot when it comes time to resell, because well-kept examples should stand out more clearly in a market where prices have softened. The model’s enthusiast appeal helps support demand, but buyers will still be selective.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 BMW 4 Series safe?

The 2014 BMW 4 Series earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content highlights front and side impact airbags, plus a backup camera on the test model. It also notes that more active safety tech costs extra, so you should verify whether a used example has the driver-assistance equipment you want. One caveat is that the backup camera view was described as poor at night, so you should test that system yourself during a nighttime or low-light inspection if possible.

Should I buy a 2014 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 launches BMW’s distinct even-numbered coupe identity.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,712, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $12,248 average.
• It expands the lineup with coupe, convertible, and Gran Coupe body styles.

The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and a sporty daily-driver feel, the 2014 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to spend more for a broader lineup and a more evolved design direction, the 2015 is worth a look. For price-sensitive shoppers, the 2014 offers the better value proposition right now.
