My a/c currently works (when the fuse is in place to power it) but does not shut off when I push the OFF button. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I took it to a mechanic not too long
ago and he told me it had something
to do with a bad 'computer' switch
thing inside my truck.. Estimated
repair cost is upwards of $250. On
the other hand, my neighbor( not a
mechanic) said he looked up my
problem online and said it might
have something to do with a faulty
voltage switch which might cost $75
for the part plus the cost of having
someone who knows what their
doing install it.

If your rig has the electronic readout for the HVAC system then your mechanic was going with worst case on the estimate, if your rig has the manual system then your neighbor is most likely correct as he heat controls will have to be removed to replace the switch.
