Problem with an overheating Engine

Asked by Parker_19 Dec 06, 2020 at 08:07 AM about the 2009 Jeep Wrangler X-S 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What is the most likely cause of an overhearting engine if the expansion tank and thermostat have already been replaced?

Line blockages and water pump would be my next thoughts after making sure radiator fan is working properly

Thankyou for your reply, when I turn on the engine, the water pipes are instantly so pressurised that they are solid, impossible to squeeze, and the water is instantly bubbling out the expansion box before the engine is even warm. I’ve already changed the whole thermostat unit and the expansion box.

If its boiling out the expansion box, I would look for a clog most likely in the radiator. Disconnect the radiator and run cold water (due to temperature outside) through the radiator and see if it flows freely or if it seems to be coming out slower than what its going in
