98 civic lx ac compressor bypass
If you mechanically can bypass it and get proper tension on the belt, as I don't have a diagram on your engine belt routing, the easiest way to measure is to take a piece of twine or string and wrap it around the pulleys you intend to use to get the proper length. Stop into the auto parts store and get the closest size, make sure the width matches and ribs if any.
Also, to use the same belt, they make a delete A/C compressor pulley & bracket for around $40.
Ohk cool my buddy i work with is a mechanic he told me if i drive it like it is the clutch wheel thing will cause my belt to jump off and overheat but idk id love to keep the ac but im sure the compressors gone out because it was smoking and it smelled like burnt rubber
That is a easy fix. Sounds like you just need to replace the compressor clutch and pulley with bearing. http://www.carid.com/1998-honda-civic-air-conditioning-heating-parts/four-seasons-ac-compressor-clutch-63160774.html
