Oil pump or sending unit?

Asked by Apr 22, 2016 at 05:06 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche LTZ 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2007 Chevy Avalanche
Oil pressure dropped to zero while driving, started dinging
and check engine light is also on.  Stopped driving
immediately, engine sounds great, no noises or knocking.
Checked oil, oil is full and good.  Start the car up and oil
pressure is normal for 5 or so min, then drops down again.
Have since drove about 20 to 30 miles in short trips. Still no
odd engine noises. Just wondering what is the problem.
Truck has about 62000 Miles on it.
Chevy dealer is picking up tomorrow, just curious what
people think it is, I wanna know, before worrying for the
next couple days

first thing to do is check the sending unit/wires

Idk how to do all that. It's going to the garage. Just inquiring to see what ya think it could be,
