Is my transmission gone

Asked by May 27, 2017 at 07:51 PM about the 1996 GMC Suburban C1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I know my transmission has been messing
up but today while driving it  I lost reverse
2nd and drive. It's an automatic 1996 GMC
suburban v8. Is it possible that it could be
something else than needing a new
transmission

If you had an issue before the failure, then I'd say yes. You can get the transmission rebuild for less than a new one.
