Strange noise

Asked by Mar 23, 2016 at 10:36 AM about the 2015 Chrysler 200 S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got into my car and have been sitting for about 10
min while looking at my phone. I hadn't turned it on
or anything yet. Then I hear a sound, the best way
to describe would be like the sound computers
used to make for connection to Internet, similar but
not the same. Then it quit, about a minute later, and
I heard a sound from behind the steering wheel, like
something shutting off or getting into place. A small
knocking or clicking. I'm actually taking car in for
diagnostic today as my uConnect has been
messing up on me and my car has been acting
funny. I was just wondering because it's the first
time I've heard this and the car was off. I don't
know why it would do anything.

I believe what you were hearing was the HVAC systems servo motors resetting for when you start the car, once you opened the door you turn on a lot of the cars presets that automatically happen and you normally don't even know cause you just get in buckle up and fire the engine, and all of this is done just cause you opened the door.

Chrysler 200 I hear a knocking noise like someone knocking on a door. I've heard it when it hasn't been driven and also after it has been driven... while I am outside of the car.. I thought there was a woodpecker next door again.. What could it be?

I don't have a answer, but I agree about the knocking noise, it happens when I'm in or out of the car. I personally think it's a glitch in Chrysler's 200, that needs to be fixed for free. I have a 2012, and I have had nothing but trouble out of school.
