Should you consider buying a 5 Cylinder car, gas or diesel-powered?

They're much less common than Fours and Sixes.   VW Passat has a 2.5 Five and so does
Volvo.    Does it make sense to get a diesel?

OK, thanks. Do you think they the Five cylinders produces more low end torque than a comparable Four with the same engine displacement?

No. Same piston, shorter stroke on the I5 make them both 2.5L shorter stroke= less low end torque. Check this out, click for animation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torque
