My daughter has a 2014 Ford Escape with the 1.6L engine that is leaking coolant into cylinder 3. Will replacing head gasket fix this?

You need to machine the head flat and have it checked for cracks.

I just found out I have exact same problem. Cylinder 3, that can't be a coincidence. The dealer told me to get a new engine! How did you fix it ?

Haven't fixed it yet. My dealer also suggested engine replacement. We were trying to get Ford to help, but they wanted the dealer to tear the motor down to find out the failed part at my expense ($1000). This was before they would say if they'd help. If they wouldn't, I'd have to pay $1000 again to put it back together or go with his suggestion of a new motor. But they wanted $9000 for that replacement. The suggested value of her car is only between $4000 and $5000, so that option is out. Was hoping to see if anyone had success with just a head gasket.

I was told same exact problem by dealer and needed new engine (9k job). This is not a coincidence. Can people share ford paperwork to bring to manufacturer?

I think same happened to me as well. 2014 escape, 79000 miles. I was first getting the "Engine Coolant Low Service Required" message and then the “High engine temperature stop safely". Car went into fail safe mode, dealer and ford said I needed a new engine due to a coolant leak in the engine. New engine...same thing happened. What recourse do we have?

We have the exact same issue with one we JUST bought from a dealer. We drove it for a few days and then had it back to their shop twice. Now we are being told we need to replace the motor and dealership is not assuming responsibility for selling it to us with a bad motor

Same problem just yesterday. (95000 mi.) Engine light came on, code said misfire in 3rd., So in replacing spark plugs, the mechanic snapped 3rd plug that was totally seized in there...going to be $2,300 to take it all out and, bore it, re~thread it, replace all... I JUST LOVE my Escape and feel betrayed by Ford as I’ve seen SO MANY people with same problem!

Yep. Me too. 2013 Escape Ecoboost. Shit! Anything we can make Ford do about it? There was a recall (#13V583000) that might have addresses this problem, but I bought my car used in 2017 so I knew nothing about it.

I too have taken the car to the DEALER who ran tests that said to replace the engine have a quote back for $12,000.to replace same....SPark Plug in CY 3 broke..they want $5,000 to fix same just to run tests ins co want to run(compression/-leak down)warranty ins said not covered they could not run their confirmation tests. its a mess
