What causes oil to burn on a 2000 dodge durango
if this problem just started all of a sudden, try putting in a new pcv valve. if it has gotten worse over time and yu have a lot of miles, could be bad rings.
I agree with Mike. If the PCV valve is not working properly it will cause the oil to burn because the crankcase is not being vented properly. Also , if you have engine wear & are using a 10w30 oil, I would suggest trying a 15w40 or even a 20w50 oil. Synthetic oil is another alternative.
I'm having the smoking issue with my Durango too !! But the smoke is coming from up by the front tire cuz the rear break lines gave out a year ago and when I do apply some small breaking power then I smell a burning smell along with smoke !!
