My 2005 Thunderbird check engine light has been on for months. It has been to shop over and over. They have replaced the battery, changed some sort of sensor, the gas cap is tight and I filled the tank completely and also had the oil changed. They keep saying the scanner says it needs a new map sensor but they then checked with the local Ford dealer who said the car doesn't have a map sensor. What's up?
The ford dealer is correct,there is no map sensor,what the computer is reading is a bad EGR valve.
The Jaguar / Ford 3.9 uses both MAP and MAF Your vehicle is equipped with an EGR system module(new type EGR valve). This module consist of 2 MAP sensors that independently read intake manifold and exhaust pressure. Here is basically how it works. Look up the TSB if you want to understand how this works.
Auto centric is corect,but it is biult into the egr and is not indepedant,will have to replace the EGR.

You need take the car some where else and let them check the codes and find out what code number they are coming up with. Once we have that information, we would be better to help you.
