engine miss firing
I have a 97 chev. P U, 5.7. That miss firing not all
the time AND it miss fires on different cylinders ???
I have replaced cap, rotor, wires, plus and still miss
firing. Does this model have a control module?
Not in the traditional sense, it is combined with the engine control processor or ECM, so check and see if there are any cam or crank sensor codes first, if they are present then repair is warranted. On on to the most common problems, leaking intake manifold gasket on the lower section where the manifold attaches to the head, it will have to be check both externally and internally. The others are fuel related, low fuel pressure and partially restricted injectors, so after a fuel pressure and flow test have been performed and either passed or failed and repaired, then onto the injection system itself, sometimes a professional injection cleaning will cure it but it's been my experience that system will need replacement in 6 out of 10 that have had these kind of random multiple misfire codes, and it usually just bad or dirty fuel that has caused it. This is a lot to digest at one time. I have personally dealt with the above problems on one of my GM rigs I have had, the only thing I didn't have to replace was the injection system but I did have it out and cleaned it then. HTH
