Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The rear wiper will not go to park position or it will not pulse with the front wiper . Is this an easy fix? Computer or is it mechanical?

If the wiper does not park in the correct position the wiper arm may have slipped or perhaps the limit switch no longer works.

Thank you. The rear wiper does stay on the glass but stops in various places. I manually use the switch to put it in the correct position. Is the limit switch located on the motor? David

Sounds like two problems but may be related. Most electrical funtions are controlled by teh cars ECU (computer). You need a plug in diagnostic check first to rule out ECU issues and reveal any fault codes. Next you need an electrician to check if the motor is receiving power pulses for puklse wipe. This is a simple and quick test. No pulse may be just a fuse. Fuses OK check power from switch at the pulse relay. Again a quick check. This will reveal if its the pulse relay or a wiring fault. Allow 2 hours labour (max) for this work. Park problems may be related to the relay or an internal fault in the motor. Worst case is you need a new wiper motor. Good luck

I have solved the problem I think. Opened the hatch and moved the wires at the top of the door and now the wiper does not wipe the glass every time I start the car. So something in that bundle was pinched and making contact. Thanks for the advice.

Broken wires in the loom. Carefully remove both rubber grommets, peel cloth carefully away and you will find a white wire with a green stripe and a small green wire with a black stripe. They are both broken. Connect new wires to the broken ends and drill small holes into the grommets to fish new wires through. New wires will be outside loom, but will work fine. Wiper should now work and will park correctly. Did a similar repair for rear license plate lights a few years ago.
