what causes the engine light to go on withe the code saying the engine is misfiring when it isnt, car runs smoothly

the engine light goes on an the computer analyzer says its due to engine misfiring,  I cant be that because the engine runs smoothly. any answers out there

It can misfire and you a human will never know it! most engines do.. running smooth doesn't mean its not misfiring.
