My 2011 Volkswagen CC is having an intermittent extended crank issue

Asked by Jun 15, 2019 at 01:08 AM about the 2011 Volkswagen CC 2.0T Sport FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2011 VW CC sport has an issue where the car intermittently will not start
right away and cranks for an extended period of time. I left it with my mechanic
for two weeks and they could not figure it out. I am hoping someone will be
able to help me. There is no check engine light on. Thank you.

I suspect it's the fuel pump regulator or the pump itself. Try this: Do not start the car, but turn key to "on" for 3 seconds; turn off and wait for 5 seconds; repeat three times. This energized the pump/regulator to deliver fuel without stalling. If this works, replace the regulator, which might be part of your fuel pump. Part of this might also be caused by a dirty throttle body. clean it and add injector cleaner to the gas.
