Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 BMW 528i.  It was badly treated by previous owner.  I took the car to a garage to check reason for low compression on cylinder 6, after a 2-montdh cylinder head repair.  The garage returned me the car without power on the driver's door locks and windows control.  But other 3 doors function from their own switch..  What is wrong or disconnected?   Elias  from US Embassy-Panama

Check the wiring that goes from the main body of the car to the door. Remove the rubber boot in the door jam and inspect the wires carefully for breaks or damage. Also check the engine compartment for disconnected ground straps. Especially around the back of the engine near the firewall. HTH. -Jim
