Dash lights stayed on after repair

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Took my mini in to get the valve cover gasket replaced due to an oil leak.
Due to the amount of oil, they cleaned off the motor, put it on the lift to
make sure the oil filter housing wasn't also leaking.  Mechanic parked my
car and three hours later I went to pick it up.  The car wouldn't start, now
dead battery.  Put it on the charger for a couple minutes, car started right
up.  Left on charger for 10 minutes.  Then left.  Speakers no longer
worked.  I get to my destination and the dash lights wont turn off.  Turned
car back on - had radio/sound.  Turned car off - still had dashlights.  Did
simple, turn car back on , turned on lights, turned them back off, turned of
car and radio/lights turn off BUT the indicator lights stayed on.  Did the turn
on/off again.  Locked/Unlocked doors and turned off car.  ALL dash lights
finally turned off.  Is this normal?  Or do I now have an electrical issue?
(NOTE: THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE)
