Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Started truck.. no guages working.  Radio lights on, truck drove fine.  Shut off and restarted.. no guages. Drove to dealership and salesman shut truck off. Mechanic starts truck several times and now they work. WHAT WOULD CAUSE ALL GAUGES TO stop working ?? Anyone else ever experience this?. Just bought this used truck for a long trip that I will be taking and don't need any break-downs along the way. Any suggesting for getting this fixed beforehand     ???

Sounds like this is a fairly popular problem, I am working through it on my 2003 Sierra as well, the Duramax forum has some ideas that include cleaning battery terminals, replacing battery and replacing the gage cluster which has been on a factory advisory... There is a place to start, I'll let you know what works for my truck when I get it fixed... J

To skunkedagain. I replaced the battery at the driverside front and then a guy at the dealership said that was for the trailer/acc., that the back battery, which is on the passenger side (on firewall) was the main battery. I haven;t had any issues with it since replacing the battery.
