purchasing a 2009 Honda civic LX auto transmission for the lowest price

Asked by Oct 23, 2008 at 12:37 AM about the 2009 Honda Civic LX

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

What is the lowest price I should be able to buy a 2009 LX Civic coupe with AT?  Should I be able to buy it at or just above invoice price?  Can I ask to see this?  Does the dealer still make $ with hold over monies?  Anyone buy this car in the Chicago area recently?  What great purchase price without the tax included did you pay, and with the tax, title and insurance?  What car dealer did you go to and what sales person did you work with?  Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Actually, you'll not get a GREAT deal on an 09' "anything" especially a Honda. Your best bet would be to shop an unsold 08' (if you have to have an unused one!) Consider shopping for a demonstrator, lease return or fleet return in an 08' model. The original person registering the car already ate the initial depreciation; which is, the greatest overall loss in vehicle value. It can have zero miles on it, the second it's registered, it just became a used car. COPNGRATULATIONS! you just lost 15-35% of the vehicle value. So, if you buy from the list I provided, you will save thousands of dollars and still get a low mileage vehicle that has factory warranty. If you must get an 09' undriven or an 08' for that matter, try this. Go to the NADA book and find the loan value and the retail value. Split the difference and purchase as close to that price as you can get. To increase your odds, remember car dealers are GREEDY and want ALL of your money! Shop around but arrive at the lot near closing time. Try to arrange your own finacning and be pre-approved. Purchase on the last day of the month, they will be more agreeable as their numbers will have a last minute chance to increase. The closer to the end of the year you wait, the better deal you'll negotiate. I hope this helped!
