traction control/stabilitrak disabled

Asked by UCC9797 May 30, 2017 at 02:22 PM about the 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I hit and ran over a 18 wheeler tire on the road and now the traction
control/ stabilitrak light says its disabled/off. I brought it to the car shop,
they ran the codes and said its from the engine misfire. I've known about
the misfire in cylinder 4, but am wondering if running over that tire could
have caused damage to some sensors underneath the truck. Any help
would be appreciated.

Did they read any ABS codes? Maybe you damaged a wheel speed sensor.

I had the same thing happen - big bump, not a tire, they say its a sensor and have to order it - of course they don't have a one of them in Canada.
