Fair Price?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am in the market for an 08'Si and I'm wondering what price SHOULD I be paying for the car? I have read some other message boards and I discovered that earlier this year, people were paying somewhere between 19500 to 21000 for the base coupe manual (which is the one I want) , no nav or summer tires. Last weekend I went to the dealers and for this same model they were asking at least 22,500.  Is this price nothing short of a highway robbery?!?! I know the higher gas prices are causing a buying frenzy for compact cars like the Civic so the dealer can jack up their prices. I am wondering whether I can talk the dealers down to a reasonable price now or if I should wait to buy until the compact car market gets saturated/fuel prices come back down a bit in a few months?
