Asked by Holly Jun 22, 2020 at 06:17 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox LS AWD

Question type: General

Ok, I just bought a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox LS,. Tire size is
236/65R16. A few months ago, I bought 4 brand New
265/70R16 for the vehicle I was driving before it croaked.
Can I get away with putting the 265/70R16s on my
Equinox???

I doubt those tires will work. They are 2.6" taller and 1 1/4" wider. If you want wider tires I would go with something like a 255/60/16 which has the same outside diameter as what you have now.

Crap! That's $451.28 (4 brand new tires+mount&balance) flushed down the toilet!!!!! :(

You can probably get half that back if you sell them. Ask the tire shop, maybe they will take them back if they have never been used.

Generally you can sell the tires off a vehicle but you may have to buy cheap used ones or just ask the tire shop to provide you with four crap tires so the scrapyard can haul it away. You should be able to get $500 scrap out of just the metal.

Well, that old vehicle is not mine. I borrowed my brother's truck. Therefore, I can't scrap it. I wouldn't need to ask if the truck was mine. My brother has made out like a bandit! While I drove that truck 9 months, out-of-pocket, I installed brand new radiator, thermostat, water pump, battery, 8 spark plugs & respective wire harnesses to make it road-ready & safe. He doesn't feel he owes me money cuz he let me borrow it and paid liability insurance on it. Go figure.
