2002 town & country overheating

Asked by Hawkima69 Apr 28, 2016 at 05:48 PM about the 2002 Chrysler Town & Country Limited LWB FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2002  Town & country is overheating. Happened suddenly. Car is fine and stays at normal temperature while idle  in park or neutral with foot on or off  gas, but when I try to drive it after about 2 miles the temp goes up quickly. I checked radiator and when I removed cap it is not empty but the level is slightly lower so I top it off and does same thing again. I changed thermostat and no change. I do not see any puddles under vehicle either. No leaking hoses, radiator fan does come on also. What can I do next?

First thing to check on these vehicles, open the hood look at and feel the hood insulation cover is it damp or wet? LH on the drivers side..

Double check for leaks, be sure to check the rear passenger side (Tire area) if the vehicle has the rear heater. Was the van driven when overheated? If yes the the coolant needs to checked for C02 Carbon Monoxide, a combustion by-product chemically test it. If it has NOT been driven while overheating, have the coolant system pressure tested to determine where the loss of coolant is originating from. You need find out where!
