1995 c280 dies when the gas gauge reads 1/2 tank what chould be the problem

probably a faulty fuel sender unit. It's a float system that lives inside the fuel tank and they're prone to getting stuck after a while. If i remember correctly you may be able to access it from under the rear seat (bench part) but don't take that as gospel. Hope this helps.
