why does my od keep dropping out then kicking back on at highway speeds

when I am driving at 40 to fifty mph or more under normal load and on flat road my od keeps fluctuating even at steady speeds.

Sounds like the overdrive band is burnt or the torque convertor is faulty. Time for a rebuild.
