Sounds like you may have bad tires and were just going a bit fast for the weather conditions. You may want to buy the water tread tires. They help disperse the water from your tires quicker than conventional treads.

I was going to mention the same thing - check your tires' tread for sure. Also, Camry's have a difficult time stopping on a thick bed of leaves when it's raining during the fall and winter. I had an accident nearly two years ago on a road where leaves had fallen heavily over a rainy period in November. I was only going 35 mph but the wet leaves caused me to loose control of the car and forced me over to the other side of the road and I hit the curb and it totally crunched my passenger side tire. Thankfully the axle wasn't bent. I just needed a new tire and hubcap. I was lucky because that's the only accident I've had in 21 years of owning my 1996 Camry LE Special Edition. Be very careful during rainy periods and going through thick puddles of water. Camry's aren't very good at staying in control at high speeds so be sure to lower your speed to less than 35 mph.
