My 1996 Avalon's battery went dead, charged it for
quite a while but it won't turn over??   Also my car
alarm went off and I never knew I had one!!

If it's not accepting a charge then the battery is bad and needs replaced. As far as the alarm tripping that is normal when the power is disconnected or drops too low and then power is applied, there should be a procedure on how to disable in the owners manual.
