I have a 1995 Toyota 4Runner 4x4. When I try to start it, it will crank but I have to crank it 2-4 times for a few seconds each time before it starts. The starter is working fine, the engine just won't start. I've changed the spark plugs and spark plug wires, the distributor cap and rotator, the air filter and fuel filter. And I even cleaned the carburetor. I put Sea Foam in the fuel tank as well. But if I've driven it for a while and turn it off then try to turn it on again, it'll turn on right away.

try putting it into the on position....waiting for fuel pressure to begin the voyage from the tank through the fuel pressure regulator, the fuel rail and go a sloshin' back into the tank...takes about 15-30 seconds to prime the fuel system....then turn the key.

your fuel pump may be weak, would have to test the output pressure~

We had the same problem with our 1986 4 runner. We crimped the fuel return hose and it started. We can also hear air gurgling in the gas tank. We are in the midst of figuring out what is wrong. Any ideas would be appreciated.
