No. Absolutely not! You have a transponder key that communicates with the anti-theft module in the steering column. Once the anti-theft module recognizes the transponder key a starter request signal is sent to the body control module (BCM). The BCM then energizes the starter, ignition system, and fuel pump to start the car. HTH. -Jim
