Replaced window regulator in 93 grand marquis but still won't go up or down. Motor SEEMS to work fine, but won't push/pull window. What do I do next?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My front driver side window wouldn't go up or down without assistance. I
would hear a clicking sound when I tried the switch. So I when I took the
motor/regulator assembly out I put the same motor (which seems to be
working fine), on a new regulator and I'm getting the same result. Seems
like the motor isn't able to turn the spindle in the regulator, but the motor
itself spins fine unattached to the regulator.

Odds are if that's the original motor the brushes are worn to the commutator ... can you try to hold the shaft ( forget it if it can cause injury) and see how much torque the motor has?... Since you already did all the hard work ... go to a salvage yard and get another motor

Yeah, I tried to put resistance on the shaft of the motor whole holding the switch down and I couldn't stop it from turning. But yeah, since the door is still in pieces thinkin a junkyard motor is the next step.

I had the same problem and just like you I changed the regulator. No luck. I then changed the motor and it works fine now.
