2004 hyundae sata fe takes time to shift gear.

Asked by Aug 21, 2015 at 09:34 PM about the 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After warming up, on drive mode, it takes at least 2~3 seconds before I
feel it start moving with a jerk , then rpm goes up to 30 from 10~15
before shifts to next gear with a jerk. It's auto transmission.
If and when I pass 2nd gear, pressing gas then letup for a second helps go
to next gear, also with a jerk.
What's wrong with my vehicle?
I meed it to go to doctors, pharmacy, and grocery stores every week.I
drove about 3000 miles a year last 5 years.
I did not change oil last 1.5 years though..

Could be low fluid level, clogged filter or an electric solenoid going bad. There are other things too such as an adjustment on top of the transmission. Best to have it checked by a pro for an answer.
