I have a 1992 Thunderbird. It will no longer change from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. I found a plastic piece or part in the transmission pan. It wasnt attached to anything. It has an O-ring around it and was beige. Do you know what this can be?

Apparently it has never been serviced, that little plastic piece is a plug that the factory puts in the transmission fill opening before the dipstick tube is installed, when the tube is installed on the line that little piece it just shoved into the pan, it is removed when the tranny is serviced. If you have lost 3rd gear, chances are the trans needs overhauled or replaced.
Wear due it go
In the trash, it is the plug that the factory puts in the hole where the dipstick tube is later installed on the assembly line, when the tube is installed it is just shoved into the pan and there it stays until the tranny is serviced.
