What is causing my oil pressure gauge to be so erratic?

Asked by Aug 01, 2015 at 10:40 PM about the 1993 Ford Thunderbird LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So yesterday I replaced the spark plugs on my car, the car started up and drove great.
Then today while driving it I noticed the oil pressure gauge would drop to low when I would
go up or down hill, around a curve, or when coming to a stop. Then a ticking sound
started occurring from the drivers side of the car, which I think is a bad lifter. Does
anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a oil pump failure especially if you now have lifter noise.
